APEDA registration: what it confirms and what it doesn't

APEDA — the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority — requires exporters of scheduled products to register before they can export. An APEDA registration number confirms an exporter is legally recognized to export those product categories from India.

What it does not confirm: production capacity, current certification status, quality consistency, or financial standing. Registration is a regulatory gate, not a quality audit.

How we use it

We cross-check every supplier's APEDA registration number against the public registry before a profile goes live, then layer on separate checks for HACCP/BRCGS scope, facility details, and export track record. Registration alone is one data point among several, not a stand-in for the rest.
